A black liquid asphalt primer for priming bare concrete roof decks and corrugated asbestos cement roofs prior to the installation of a SWEPCO Roof System. It provides solid bonding and uplift resistance for the new roof system by absorbing loose dust and scale on the surface. It also helps prevent blistering of the completed roof by sealing the pores of concrete decks.

SWEPCO Concrete Primer facilitates optimum bonding. It absorbs the powdery dust and scale which can prevent formation of strong bonds on
concrete. Premium quality ingredients penetrate to bond loose particles together, creating a highly bondable surface. Strengthens the entire roofing assembly, making it more resistant to blow-off in high winds, slippage, blistering, wrinkling and other serious problems which shorten the service life of the roof.

PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION
SWEPCO Concrete Primer is a low viscosity liquid asphalt primer manufactured from SWEPCO’s specially selected and refined Heart of Texas” Asphalt®, Zonamine and select waterproofing additives. It is designed for priming and sealing bare concrete decks prior to installation of SWEPCO Roof Systems utilizing Heavy Duty PolyPly or other types of asphalt roofing membranes. Zonamine, SWEPCO’s proprietary moisture displacement additive, helps insure strong bonding even if some unavoidable surface dampness exists. It also used as a primer over weathered, friable corrugated asbestos roofs prior to application of waterproofing coatings.

SURFACE PREPARATION
Concrete roof decks must meet all requirements contained in the booklet entitled SWEPCO Built-Up Roof System General Specifications” prior to application of Concrete Primer.
 

APPLICATION

Applied straight from the container with standard roofing brushes, squeegees, paint rollers or airless spray equipment. Requires no heating, thinning or mixing.
COVERAGE RATES
Coverage varies with surface. Typical usage rate is 0.5--1.0 gal./100 sq. ft. (0.20--0.41 liter/m2).
CURING
Drying time depends upon temperature and climate. Usually dries to touch in approximately 1 to 2 hours.
PACKAGING
Available in 6-gallon (23 liter) pails.
STORAGE
Indefinite shelf life when containers are kept tightly sealed and stored at less than 100º F (38º C).
CLEAN-UP
Clean-up spills and tools with kerosene or mineral spirits.
